Emin Alper

Emin ALPER (1974, Turkey) is a filmmaker, actor, writer and historian who has garnered dozens of awards for his short and feature films. He studied Economics at Boğaziçi University, and also holds a PhD in Modern Turkish History. Beyond the Hill (2012), his directorial debut, won both the Caligari Film Prize at Berlinale Film Festival and Best Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. His most recent film, Burning Days (2022), has also picked up several awards, including Best Film and Best Screenplay at Ankara International Film Festival. Selected for IFFR 2023, it was also nominated for the Un Certain Regard Award and the Queer Palm Award at Cannes Film Festival in 2022.
