Elaine Proctor

Elaine Proctor (1960, Johannesburg) grew up in a conventional Afrikaner family. She came into contact with theatre during a holiday job and went to drama school. After working as a TV actress for some time, she started making films. She joined a group of film-makers making documentaries about racial and political conflicts. She went to London twice to study film. She made her first film Palesa (1989) at the National Film and Television School in London.
