Edward Yang

Edward YANG (Yang Dechang) (1947, China - 2007, USA) moved from China to Taiwan with his family in 1949 and later lived in the USA for several years. After returning to Taiwan, he worked as an assistant director and scriptwriter. Yang was one of the protagonists of the Taiwanese New Wave; he made eight features since 1982, including The Terrorizers (1986), A Brighter Summer Day (1991) and Yi yi (2000), which are widely regarded as masterpieces. He died in 2007 at the age of 59.
