Don Askarian

Don ASKARIAN (1949, Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenia) studied history and art in Moscow from 1967 to 1973. He worked as assistant director and film critic until he was arrested and jailed in 1975. In 1978 he emigrated to Berlin where he has lived and worked ever since. All of his films are rooted in the culture of Armenia, Askarian’s birth land. Most of his films have been shown in Rotterdam. Ararat - Fourteen Views received support from the Hubert Bals Fund.
