Clara Law (Law Chuck-Yu) (Macao, 1957) studied film at the National Film and Television School in England, after graduating from the Hong Kong University in English Literature. Returning to Hong Kong, she crafted a number of internationally acclaimed features, including Autumn Moon (winner of the Golden Leopard, Locarno), Temptation of a Monk (Venice competition). She moved to Australia in 1995 and continued to win many international awards, including Floating Life (Silver Leopard, Locarno), The Goddess of 1967, Letters to Ali and Like a Dream. Red Earth was selected for competition in Venice 2010. The Unbearable Lightness of Inspector Fan was made in China in 2015. Drifting Petals, her latest feature, was four years in the making. Through the years, her films have been selected in many international film festivals, including New York, Venice, Toronto, Sundance, Locarno, Rotterdam, and Pusan.
