Christian Petzold

Christian PETZOLD (1960, Germany) studied German Language and then Theatre and Film Directing in Berlin. He worked under Harun Farocki and Hartmut Bitomsky as an assistant director. With The State I Am In (2000), Petzold proved himself to be one of the most talented filmmakers of his generation. He has received countless awards for his body of work, including the European Film Award, multiple FIPRESCI prizes and the Golden Lion in Venice. Barbara (2012) was chosen as one of the top five foreign language films by the American National Board of Reviews USA.
