Charlie VUNDLA was born in New York City, but moved to Johannesburg at a young age. He returned to the United States and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism at George Washington University, and spent a year in the graduate film production programme of the University of Southern California. In 2008, he wrote, directed and produced Friends in Need. In 2011, he directed How to Steal 2 Million. CUCKOLD (AKA The Tribe) (2015) premiered in Toronto and was nominated for a Jury Award at the film festival of Atlanta. In 2020, he was invited to the Berlinale Talents programme and directed Hotele Lerallaneng.
