Chang Cheh

CHANG Cheh (1923-2002, China) was one of the most important filmmakers in Hong Kong cinema. In 1947 he took his first steps in the film industry as a scriptwriter. And two years later he codirected The Clouds Over Mount Ali, the first of almost a hundred films he would make. His first hit film was One-Armed Swordsman (1967). In 2002 he was given the 'Godfather of Hong Kong Cinema', the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Hong Kong Film Awards.
