Carel van Hees

Carel VAN HEES (1954, Rotterdam) is well-known as a photographer, but for the past few years, his work has focussed on making video installations and films. His first documentary Saxman (1995) was screened in Rotterdam in 1996. In 2003 he received the Cultuurprijs Zuid-Holland for his whole oeuvre. Eight years later he created an exhibition in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen where he paid tribute to the boxing champion, hairdresser and his friend Cor Eversteijn who passed away at the young age of 33. After Don't Catch My Face (2005) and 2KM2 (2008) he once again joins IFFR with his documentary Berichten uit de Hunkerbunker (2023).
