Auraeus Solito

Auraeus SOLITO (Manila, Philippines) grew up in the heart of Manila, in the Sampaloc district, where The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros is also set. He started taking an interest in the ancient culture and rituals of the southern islands of Palawan, after he had discovered he had roots there. Solito had previously been a theatre director and playwright, but wanted a broader idiom with which to tell the story of his people, and therefore chose film. He is now working on a film series about the myths and rituals of Palawan. The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros is an excursion from that project.
