Anatole Litvak

Anatole LITVAK (1902, Russia - 1974, France) was born into a Jewish family in Kiev. As a teenager, he worked at a theater in St. Petersburg and took acting lessons. Before the rise of the Nazis, he lived and worked in Germany where he made his first couple of films at the beginning of the 1930s. In World War II he fled to England and France, where he made several successful films which earned him a contract from a Hollywood studio. For his contribution to the American motion picture industry he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
