Amjad Abu Alala

Amjad ABU ALALA is a Sudanese director and producer, born and currently residing in the United Arab Emirates. He studied media at the Emirates University and worked as a film and documentary director for Arab and Western channels. As a producer and director, he has made numerous short films that have been shown at film festivals, including Orange and Coffee (2004), Feathers of the Birds (2007) and Teena (2009), which is considered as marking the return of cinema in Sudan. His Studio (2012) was supervised during a workshop conducted by Abbas Kiarostami. In 2013 he won the Best Arabic Play award from the Arab Authority for Apple Pies. He currently heads the Programming Committee in the Sudan Independent Film Festival and is Sudan's representative at the Arab Film Institute.
