Alice DIOP (1979, France) is a filmmaker and screenwriter from Aulnay-sous-Bois, who is renowned for her depictions of French society. She studied history and sociology at university, as well as documentary filmmaking at La Fémis in Paris. She won the awards for Best Documentary and Best Film in the Berlin Film Festival’s Encounters section for her documentary Nous (2021). She has also been awarded prizes for La mort de Danton (2011) and Vers la tendresse (2015). Selected for IFFR 2023 and based on real events, Saint Omer (2022) is her first narrative feature.
