Albertina Carri

Albertina Carri (1973, Argentina) studied Photography, Script Writing and Film Directing from 1991 to 1994. She gained experience as a camera assistant and camerawoman for six years before starting to direct. She made her first feature in 2000, No quiero volver a casa, which was also screened in Rotterdam. As a filmmaker she has researched several genres, from film noir to documentaries bordering on fiction. Her third feature, Géminis (2005), was screened in Cannes. She has received awards in Valencia, Las Palmas, Barcelona and Buenos Aires, amongst others. In Argentina she founded the Asterisco International LGBTIQ Film Festival. Las hijas del fuego/The Daughters of Fire (2018) won the Best Argentine Film Award at the last BAFICI.
