Jade by Sacha Polak

For the first edition of BOOSTNL a wide range of projects are selected. At the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht we welcome the 14 filmmakers with whom this new initiative will come to life. We introduce them with a short Q&A.

Sacha Polak

Sacha Polak graduated in 2006 from the Dutch Film and Television Academy with her short film Teer, which was selected for several international film festivals. In 2009 she followed the Directors Lab at the Binger Film Lab and in 2011 she directed her first feature Hemel. This film was premiered in 2012 at the Berlinale and won the prestigious FIPRESCI Award. Her second feature Zurich was selected for the Berlinale as well.

What drives you as a filmmaker?
World domination.. ;-)

What is your relation/history with HFM and/or CineMart?
I've already prested films at both events.

In two sentences: what is this new project about?
Alienated from her young daughter after an acid attack that leaves her facially disfigured, Londoner Jade finds solace in a hedonistic party lifestyle and anonymous internet sex.
