David Shea: Hsi-Yu Chi, Alpha, Satyricon. De drie stukken die David Shea presenteerd, are steps in the process of the three years exploring cnnections between live physical theatre and cinamtic music with electronic possibilities of sampling compositions. Hsi-yu Chi was a tribute to Hong Kong cinema, based on an ancient book by the same title and the works of Hong Kong directors such as Tsui Hark, Bruce Lee and King Hu. Alpha was a tribute to film noir/Sci-fi connections seen through the eye of Jean-Luc Godards 1964 film Alphaville. Satyricon is his newest piece, and is based on the Petronius classic 2nd century decadent novel and to a lesser degree on the Fellini adaptation. The piece uses few samples of and is a type created orchestra through samples of live musicians and concrete sound.
