Cinema Kpatakpata – Nigeria

Formed in 2010, Cinema Kpatakpata is a Nigerian company whose partners have been working in film and television since 2006. The purpose of this new venture is to pool our collective talents and drive towards Nigerian and African film from within, setting new standards of creativity, quality and ambition for the industry.
It is a film collective that works in collaboration with young local filmmakers in order to develop projects that will compete internationally.

Our first film, Confusion Na Wa, got the Hubert Bals Fund from International Film Festival Rotterdam. The finished film held off competition from films like Nairobi Half Life and Elwani to win Best Film at the Africa Movie Academy in 2013 as well as the Jury Prize in 2014 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Our second film The Lost Café, was produced in collaboration with Peridot Entertainment in Norway and with support from Angenieux in France. The film was shot in Nigeria and France. The film won the Golden Palm award for Narrative Featureat the 2018 Mexico International Film Festival. It was also the Audience Prize winner at Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Nigeria.
