KINO and Pathé are collaborating to organise the first edition of Summer Nights, a new cinematic open-air festival running from 3 through 8 September 2019. IFFR is participating and screens the pre-premiere of Monos at Henegouwerplein on Wednesday 4 September, with live Colombian music!
Monos by Alejandro Landes follows a rebel group of teenage soldiers residing in the mountains of Colombia, watching over a hostage and a conscripted milk cow. As they are ambushed, the kids are forced into the jungle, where chaos ensues. Apocalypse Now meets Lord of the Flies.
Monos won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival 2019. Development of the film was supported by IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund.
