The internationally renowned jurors include filmmaker and actress Soheila Golestani; film director, screenwriter and visual artist Marcelo Gomes; actress and film director, Ariane Labed; BFI Festivals Director Kristy Matheson; and novelist and screenwriter Jurica Pavi\u010di\u0107.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<figure style=\"aspect-ratio:16\/9;\" class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/IMG_4205-Anne-Reitsma-Fotografie-20240202.jpg?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764688471\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tiger Competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>IFFR&#8217;s Tiger Competition celebrates the innovative and adventurous spirit of up-and-coming filmmakers from all over the world. The competition was founded in 1995 to discover, raise the profile of, and reward up-and-coming international film talent. The Tiger Award is accompanied by a \u20ac40,000 cash prize, to be shared between the director and producer of the winning film. Her professional career began with acting in cinema and theatre, and she later transitioned into filmmaking, producing short films and television work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marcelo Gomes: Brazilian film director, screenwriter and visual artist known for <strong>Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures<\/strong> (2005), <strong>Portrait of a Certain Orient<\/strong> (IFFR 2024) and <strong>Dolores<\/strong> (2025, co-directed with Maria Clara Escobar).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ariane Labed: Greek-French actress and film director, she recently made her directorial debut with <strong>September Says<\/strong> (Cannes 2024). Labed is also known for starring in <strong>Attenberg<\/strong> (2010), alongside Yorgos Lanthimos&#8217; <strong>Alps<\/strong> (2011) and <strong>The Lobster<\/strong> (2015).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kristy Matheson: BFI Festivals Director since 2023, and formerly the Creative Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Director of Film at Australia&#8217;s national museum of screen culture ACMI.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jurica Pavi\u010di\u0107: Croatian novelist, screenwriter, short story writer, journalist and film critic who has authored ten novels and two short story collections, including crime novel <em>Red Water<\/em> (2017).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Big Screen Competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Big Screen Competition is multifaceted and bridges popular, classic, and arthouse cinema, it is dedicated to supporting the distribution of nominated films in the Netherlands. Additionally, IFFR offers \u20ac15,000 to the Dutch distributor that acquires the film&#8217;s distribution rights, incentivising local distribution. The jury includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jan-Willem van Ewijk: Dutch film director and actor, who after studying and working in engineering, changed course to direct his award-winning first film <strong>Nu<\/strong> (2006), followed by <strong>Atlantic.<\/strong> (2014), <strong>Pacifica.<\/strong> (2024) and <strong>Alpha.<\/strong> (2024).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sara Ishaq: Yemeni-Scottish film director, screenwriter, and trainer who currently manages the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk \u2013 a non-profit organisation co-founded in 2021 by IDFA, IFFR and the European Film Academy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loes Luca: Dutch actress, Rotterdam native, singer and comedian who has starred in successful films and television series, including <strong>Spetters<\/strong>, <strong>Het meisje met het rode haar<\/strong>, <strong>De Noorderlingen<\/strong> and <strong>Ja zuster, nee zuster<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chris Oosterom: the Director of Imagine Film Festival, whose wide-ranging expertise in film includes programming for festivals (Lowlands, Crossing Border), as well as cultural centres (Ekko, \u2019t Paard).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mila Schlingemann: Senior Programmer &amp; Acquisitions at EYE, the national museum for film and the art of moving image in the Netherlands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tiger Short Competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Tiger Short Competition, the jury hands out three equal awards worth \u20ac5,000 each year to the selected films. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1152\" src=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-213586\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026.png?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764694577 2048w, https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026-288x162.png?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764694577 288w, https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026-432x243.png?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764694577 432w, https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026-832x468.png?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764694577 832w, https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Tiger-Short-Jury-Portraits-2026-1296x729.png?image-crop-positioner-ts=1764694577 1296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For 2026, the Tiger Short Competition jury line-up is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sammy Baloji: living and working between Lubumbashi and Brussels, Baloji explores the memory and history of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He won the Special Jury Prize in the Tiger Competition IFFR 2025 for <strong>L&#8217;arbre de l&#8217;authenticit\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anka Gujabidze: visual artist from Tbilisi, Gujabidze&#8217;s first film <strong>Temo Re<\/strong> received the Tiger Short Award and KNF Award at IFFR 2025.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jukka-Pekka Laakso: festival director of Tampere Film Festival since 2002 who has previously been an expert at Berlinale Talents and the European Film Academy&#8217;s &#8216;A Sunday in the Country&#8217;. He is also executive director of Pirkanmaa Film Centre in Tampere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full competition lineup will be announced at our press conference on Tuesday 16
