<\/a>52nd edition of the festival to take place 25 January \u2013 5 February 2023. Submissions open on 1 June.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) presents a new team line-up and structure ahead of its upcoming 52nd edition, which will take place from 25 January to 5 February 2023.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanja Kaludjercic, Festival Director at IFFR, said: \u201cIFFR is completely unique – our team and our programme each year are testament to our commitment to bold and thought-provoking cinema – and we\u2019re excited to be entering into a new chapter in our history. This year, we\u2019ve had the challenging experience of looking at our organisation and asking difficult questions about how we become more inclusive and more sustainable for the decades to come – and as a result have made some significant changes. Now we are looking forward to delivering IFFR 2023 and beyond through a revitalised team consisting of many of our existing programmers as well as adding new voices. We can\u2019t wait to be back in-person with audiences next year to present a line-up of surprising, challenging, and exciting cinema and visual arts.\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection committee for features consists of former IFFR programmers\u00a0Stefan Borsos<\/strong>\u00a0(South and South-East Asia),\u00a0Michelle Carey<\/strong>\u00a0(English speaking territories),\u00a0Evgeny Gusyatinskiy<\/strong>\u00a0(Central and Eastern Europe, Israel),\u00a0Mercedes Mart\u00ednez-Abarca<\/strong>\u00a0(South and Central America, Mexico, Caribbeans),\u00a0Olaf M\u00f6ller<\/strong>\u00a0(German speaking territories, Nordic countries, the Cinema Regained programme),\u00a0Lyse Nsengiyumva<\/strong>\u00a0(Sub-Saharan Africa),\u00a0Olivier Pierre<\/strong>\u00a0(French speaking territories), and\u00a0Delly Shirazi<\/strong>\u00a0(Middle-East, Northern Africa, Iran, Turkey), former Shorts programmer\u00a0Koen de Rooij<\/strong>\u00a0(Netherlands, Flanders), and new hires\u00a0Rebecca De Pas<\/strong>\u00a0(Italy, Spain, Portugal), and\u00a0Krist\u00edna Aschenbrennerova<\/strong>\u00a0(South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shorts programme will be curated by the selection committee for shorts consisting of\u00a0Rebecca De Pas<\/strong>,\u00a0Cristina Kolozsv\u00e1ry-Kiss<\/strong>,\u00a0Lyse Nsengiyumva<\/strong>,\u00a0Ivan Ramljak<\/strong>,\u00a0Koen de Rooij<\/strong>, and\u00a0Leonie Woodfin<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Rotterdam dedicated programme \u201cRTM<\/a>\u201d, which aims to encourage Rotterdam film talent development, becomes more central to our programming and is led by\u00a0Ronny Theeuwes<\/strong>\u00a0as Head of Year-round events, Talks & Unleashed.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scouts for IFFR\u2019s upcoming programme are:\u00a0Hiromi Aihara<\/strong>\u00a0(Japan),\u00a0Robert Gray<\/strong>\u00a0(French speaking territories),\u00a0Wu Jueren<\/strong>\u00a0(Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan),\u00a0Ralph McKay<\/strong>\u00a0(North America),\u00a0Ivan Ramljak<\/strong>\u00a0(Former Yugoslav countries), and\u00a0Susana Santos Rodrigues<\/strong>\u00a0(Latin America).\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFFR also welcomes\u00a0Bianca Taal<\/strong>\u00a0as Head of\u00a0HBF<\/a>,\u00a0Inke Van Loocke<\/strong>\u00a0as Head of\u00a0Pro<\/a>,\u00a0Charlie Vermeulen<\/strong>\u00a0as Head of Programme Operations,\u00a0Alessia Acone<\/strong>\u00a0as Manager Pro,\u00a0Sara Juricic<\/strong>\u00a0as Manager Talent. Other posts announced include:\u00a0Barbara de Heer<\/strong>\u00a0as Chief of Funding and Business Growth,\u00a0Marije Stijkel<\/strong>\u00a0as Chief of Operations, and\u00a0Anne Wabeke<\/strong>\u00a0as Head of Communications. Overall, six permanent roles in total were made redundant across the organisation as part of the restructure.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Korrie Louwes, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board said: \u201cIn 2020 we appointed new leadership, tasked with revitalising and strengthening IFFR\u2019s position in the years to come. The impact of two years of COVID-19 has made this assignment even more urgent, and we are confident in the changes which have been made and excited for the future of this organisation.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marjan van der Haar, Managing Director added: \u201cWe thank all the team members who\u00a0contributed to IFFR\u2019s rich legacy. We had two years severely impacted by the pandemic, after which we have aligned the future plan and restructured the organisation to create a sustainable financial future. We are very grateful for the continued support of \u00a0our partners in the past 2 years and the continued collaborations in the upcoming 52nd edition. \u00a0These partnerships and the support from Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Municipality of Rotterdam alongside IFFR\u2019s new organisational structure, enable us to embark on planning IFFR 2023 in the healthiest financial conditions.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
