From a doping weightlifter, runaway slaves, a high-school swimming team and LED-crucifix salesmen, all the way to a vacuum-cleaning ghost, the HBF+Europe selection for 2023 is full of audacious stories that span the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n

This year, the Hubert Bals Fund is delighted it can further support ambitious filmmaking thanks to a new HBF+Europe: Post-production Support<\/a> scheme which, with the backing of the Creative Europe \u2013 MEDIA programme, allows four projects to be supported for their final stages. The 12 projects across the two schemes each receive an award of \u20ac60,000. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through HBF+Europe, the fund uses support from the Creative Europe \u2013 MEDIA programme of the European Union to encourage European producers to participate as a co-producers in film projects by filmmakers from regions where the HBF targets its support: Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HBF\u2019s continued backing from Creative Europe has allowed the creation of a new HBF+Europe scheme that supports the post-production of European co-productions within HBF-supported regions, alongside the regular HBF+Europe: Minority Co-production<\/a> scheme which has been supporting projects since 2015.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
