The awards are another helping hand to the projects on their way to completion, following previous development support grants from the HBF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1465\" src=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/05\/Los-Angeles-Still.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-120077\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Concept still: <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chilean stop-motion duo Joaqu\u00edn Coci\u00f1a and Crist\u00f3bal Le\u00f3n are supported for their second feature&nbsp;<strong>Los Angeles<\/strong>. Combining puppets, animation, and live action in dark, absurdist style, the film transports the urban pest controller Dalia into her own science fiction series. The project is a Dutch co-production through Viking Film. Their first feature,&nbsp;<strong>La casa lobo<\/strong>&nbsp;(2018), won prizes at Berlin and Annecy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Singaporean filmmaker Siyou Tan\u2019s debut feature&nbsp;<strong>Amoeba<\/strong>, a 16-year old and her three rebellious friends are inspired by the erased stories of mythical gangsters from colonial Singapore. They decide to form their own gang, in a place where even chewing gum is illegal. The strictness of laws in Singapore, and the urge of rebellious girls to resist is also the premise of her short&nbsp;<strong>Strawberry Cheesecake&nbsp;<\/strong>(2021), which screened at Locarno.&nbsp;<strong>Amoeba<\/strong>&nbsp;is a co-production with Rotterdam-based Volya Films.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
