{"id":231363,"date":"2026-09-07T16:26:51","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T14:26:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/?post_type=clarkson_event&#038;p=231363"},"modified":"2026-09-07T16:26:55","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T14:26:55","slug":"matters-in-common","status":"publish","type":"clarkson_event","link":"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/agenda\/matters-in-common","title":{"rendered":"Matters in Common"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-intro-font-size\">Join us at sunset on 25 September at the Grondstoffenstation community hub for the new open-air cinema event <em>Matters in Common<\/em> featuring an ensemble of short films curated by Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Crespo in collaboration with IFFR Filmclub.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure style=\"aspect-ratio:16\/9;\" class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2019\" height=\"2560\" src=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/Credit-Silvia-Arenas-scaled.jpg?image-crop-positioner-ts=1788789148\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Through aluminium, stone, water and seeds, the selected short films explore matter as carrier of stories about labour, extraction, ecological transformation and collective care. They connect bodies to landscapes, histories to other futures, and small gestures to shared forms of knowledge. Together they make us think over other ways of relating to the world around us: ways grounded in cooperation, attention and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Featuring local and international filmmakers who have previously presented their films during IFFR, the lineup includes <strong>Merging Bodies<\/strong> by Adrian Paci, <strong>Know Your Stones<\/strong> by Katarina Jazbec, <strong>Ninfa fluida<\/strong> by Ugo Petronin and <strong>Seeds<\/strong> by Colectivo Los Ingr\u00e1vidos. <strong>Seeds<\/strong> will be immersed in a live sonic score by Mexican sound artist Concepcion Huerta, with a site-specific screen to host the films developed by neighbourhood architect Tomi Hilsee.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drinks and snacks from Waste Simmers and Wijkkeuken op Zuid will fill our bellies along the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This event is free to attend.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We will begin the screenings once the sunlight dips (approx 20.00). Films will be presented with English subtitles. The idea is that the Filmclub will take place biweekly at various locations throughout Rotterdam, where a mix of (inter)national films, both new and true classics, will be shown in a relaxed setting in combination with discussions, workshops or parties. Whether you are discovering cinema for the first time or are already well on your way as a filmmaker, the Filmclub is a place to get inspired, network or just come and watch a film. The club works together with local communities throughout
