On Friday 1 May, Dokhuis, together with IFFR hosts a new Filmclub evening. This time, the films Workers\u2019 Wings<\/strong> by Ilir Hasanaj and You Can\u2019t Automate Me <\/strong>by Katarina Jazbec will be screened. In the spirit of Labour Day and together with filmmaker Katarina Jazbec, we will dive deeper into what it means to work under extreme conditions. Will we see you there?<\/p>\n\n\n

About Workers\u2019 Wings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Milazim, Fatmir and Liridon are veteran manual labourers who experienced accidents in their workplaces in Kosovo, Europe\u2019s youngest country. In this poetic experimental documentary tribute to a now almost extinct class of people, Ilir Hasanaj gives voice to gentle, sincere and dignified, but almost invisible individuals, who fell prey to harsh and primitive capitalistic machinery and policy in the Balkans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About You Can\u2019t Automate Me<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before container ships leave port, lashers secure the containers using heavy metal bars. They are the last port workers to do such dangerous jobs. In an equally physical cinematic style, each body tells its own story: from grieving for a colleague who died on the job to just keeping going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Filmclub is a new initiative of IFFR, currently in the pilot phase, where (future) film lovers, young filmmakers and creatives come together to watch films and exchange interests. The idea is that the Filmclub will take place biweekly at various locations throughout Rotterdam, where a mix of (inter)national films, both new and true classics, will be shown in a relaxed setting in combination with discussions, workshops or parties. Whether you are discovering cinema for the first time or are already well on your way as a filmmaker, the Filmclub is a place to get inspired, network or just come and watch a film. The club works together with local communities throughout Rotterdam.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t

    Dokhuis offers a unique space where people can come together to watch and create films. They believe cinema possesses the transformative power to help us explore not only the world around us but also the depths of our own selves. It serves as a dynamic medium for fostering meaningful dialogue and connection.<\/p>\n
