On Sunday 9 February, the last day of the festival, IDFA\u2019s Documentaire Paviljoen and IFFR are teaming up for a full day of screenings in Amsterdam, showcasing Wang Bing\u2019s Youth Trilogy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

In conjunction with IFFR 2025 and the release of Wang Bing’s third and final installment of his Youth series, Het Documentaire Paviljoen will screen the Youth Trilogy, offering a unique opportunity to experience this epic work at the unhurried pace that allows the films to achieve their radical realism. As an uncompromising voice of contemporary Chinese filmmaking, Wang Bing’s work fearlessly chronicles the socio-economic changes and challenging working conditions in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Youth (Spring)<\/strong> (212′), Wang Bing observes the daily lives of young Chinese textile workers as they celebrate their youth and try to build a future amidst clattering sewing machines and messy dormitories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth (Hard Times)<\/strong> (227′) highlights the remarkable economic structure of the Chinese textile city of Zhili. In small, private spaces with minimal regulation, 300 thousand mostly young workers work for very low and insecure wages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third and final part, Youth (Homecoming)<\/strong> (152′), captures the ephemeral joy of visiting friends and family and participating in the everyday activities of the places where they grew up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wang Bing was guest of honour at IDFA 2023, where Youth (Spring)<\/strong> was screened as part of his retrospective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
