Profile 

Taylor Olson (he / him) is a filmmaker based in Kjipuktuk,/ Halifax. who operates Afro Viking Pictures Inc. together with  Koumbie. It is focused on promoting the  Canadian culture of kindness, courage and inclusion by challenging societal thinking. Afro Viking Pictures has produced multiple award-winning short films and the feature film Ariyah & Tristan’s Inevitable Break Up which had a TV broadcast and was nominated for Screen NS’s Best Feature Film, 2017. Afro Viking’s first film, Hustle & Heart, won Best Atlantic Short at the Atlantic Film Festival, CBC’s Short Film Face Off, and was nominated for Screen NS’s Best Short in 2017 as well as two ACTRA nominations for performance. 

Olson’s debut feature film Bone Cage also won Best Atlantic Feature, Director, Screenplay & Cinematography at FIN Atlantic International Film Festival 2020l. Bone Cage has since won awards at Silver Wave Film Festival, Mosaic Film Festival, Hamilton Film Festival, and played in competition, making its European premiere, at Camerimage 2020.

Next up, Taylor has two funded features shooting over 2021: producing/directing the feature film Look at Me, and co-producing/co-writing the feature film Bystanders. In development, Taylor is pursuing financing for his third feature film, Edge of the Apocalypse.
