Švankmajer’s films stem from his own personal source material as well as adaptations of seminal writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, Lewis Carroll or Goethe. At IFFR 2018 he will world premiere Insect, which he says will be his final film.

REALITY CHECK: SHIFTING SANDS
14:00-15:30 Hilton Rotterdam Free admission with PRO badge

Europe is facing unprecedented challenges – and arguably opportunities – to its distribution fabric. Both Brexit and the Digital Single Market (DSM) have (as yet) unresolved outcomes. Policies and regulations are formulated to advance our culture – present, past and future – and make it more widely available and commercially sustainable; are these currently working in harmony, or against each other? How can European filmmakers best understand and position themselves in the face of an evolving landscape for funding films and reaching audiences?

  • Moderator: Isabel Davis (British Film Institute)
  • Panelists: Bertrand Faivre (Le Bureau/The Bureau), Uzma Hasan (Little House Productions), Enrico Vannucci (Eurimages)
