Sawsan Yusuf
Sawsan Yusuf; Egyptian producer; born in 1988; has a degree from Ain Shams University in drama and criticism. She started her career in the industry in 2009 as coordinator for several festivals and film markets in the Middle East alongside working as a line producer in independent cinema, on documentaries and shorts. In 2019 she established her company Bonanza Films and as a producer made the first short film Henet Ward which had its world premiere at Clermont Ferrand in the international competition and was selected for 180 festivals worldwide such as BFI London, Palm Springs, Busan, Durban, Cairo and won 25 prizes. She then produced Khadiga with a French co-producer which was also selected for the Clermont Ferrand international competition. She is working on other shorts and is currently developing her first feature project that has won prizes at EL Gouna and Cinemed Montpellier markets.
Bonanza Films – Egypt
Bonanza Films, a Cairo-based production company established in 2019, aims to help develop the film industry by co-producing or producing shorts and feature films for directors on their first or second project that can be presented internationally. Its productions are created in collaboration with international production and distribution companies that share enthusiasm for cinema. It has produced two shorts Henet Ward and Khadiga which were both selected for Clermont Ferrand’s international competition and other major festivals worldwide such as (BFI London – Shanghai - Palm Springs - Durban - Thessaloniki - Stockholm - Karlovy Vary – BAFICI - FIFF Namur - Cairo - Carthage) and won more than 35 international awards. It is currently in production of the new feature film Aisha Can't Fly Away Anymore, developed and co-produced with Film Clinic, which received development awards from El Gouna Film Festival and Cinemed.
