Third Culture Kids – Germany

Third Culture Kids create documentary and fictional films which stimulate the audience to put themselves in someone else’s shoes.

Sara Fazilat was born in Tehran, grew up in north Germany, and has studied in London, Berlin and New York – so it’s pretty obvious that she’s a ‘third culture kid’. Over the years she realised that most of her films are about identity and show different human perspectives. It was always important for her to tell the story of women characters who are not really represented in German films and in films in general. Ensuring diversity in terms of origin, body, age and sexuality is the core aim of Third Culture Kids. Nico is her upcoming feature film (producer and co-script writer), and deals with racism, xenophobia and empowerment.
