IFFR Pro

Pro Hub at IFFR 2023

For IFFR 2023 the Pro Hub will return with its first full programme in three years, supporting filmmakers during the festival and giving them a meaningful experience at IFFR. Filmmakers with a film in the 2023 selection can expect a trajectory of several warm-up sessions and personal contacts with the IFFR team and mentors ahead of the festival.

During the festival the Pro Hub will support both emerging and more seasoned filmmakers in developing new connections, finding allies in the film community, and encouraging an open exchange of ideas and knowledge.

Pro Dialogues

The Pro Hub will offer a programme of Pro Dialogues (panel talks) with specially invited guests from diverse backgrounds within the film community. These will encompass the breadth of experience to be found at IFFR and will be curated by the IFFR Pro team working across the programme. Topics will cater towards the interests of emerging filmmakers, curators, programmers and experienced professionals.

A special focus will be on distribution and exhibition strategies for films without a sales agent.

Pro Mentors

Directors and producers with a title in the 2023 selection will have the opportunity to book personal, one-to-one meetings with one of the Pro Mentors. These insiders are available to discuss the concerns of filmmakers, answering questions in the fields of production, co-production, financing, marketing, sales, distribution and festival strategies – providing important guidance and inspiration.

The core team of Pro Hub mentors this year will include Hayet Benkara, Marjorie Bendeck, Tejinder Jouhal, Marina Kozul, Pierre Menahem, Madeleine Molyneaux, Xavier Rashid and Susana Santos Rodrigues. Further Mentors with specific expertise and available for a limited number of meetings will be announced in January.

Pro Encounters

The Pro Encounters are a series of networking round tables that will give feature filmmakers in the 2023 selection the opportunity to meet and connect with key programmers from film festivals and markets.

Special Pro Encounters will be hosted for Short & Mid-length filmmakers, in order to meet with distributors and programmers from the short film community.

As part of the Pro Encounters, filmmakers will be offered the Pitch Out workshop on pitching and presentation skills and will then have the opportunity to pitch their films or projects to funds, producers, buyers, sales agents, festivals & markets to receive constructive feedback in a safe environment. The Pitch Out sessions will be hosted by Bonnie Williams and Marjorie Bendeck.
