11:00 - 12:30 PRO HUB PANEL : AFTER UNIQUENESS
The reproducibility of film and video is both a promise and a threat. Reproducibility offers the democratisation of access, but also raises the threat of un-authorized circulation and degraded forms of presentation. Erika Balsom will deliver a keynote that will consider how this tension has played out in the distribution ecology of artists’ moving image. A panel will ponder when and why artists embrace copying and circulation, and when and why they turn to restriction and control. Join Vanessa Henneman (Henneman Agency) and Nick Shumaker and Mikey Schwartz Wright (United Talent Agency) as they discuss the practicalities of being an Agent and the working relationship with their Talent. Learn firsthand what the responsibility of the filmmakers are, when the time is right to start an Agent relationship, and what goals and expectations are reasonable — for both sides of this vital yet mysterious paradigm. 10:30 – 11:30 HOW TO DELIVER YOUR FILM & GET A JUMP START TO YOUR CAREER
For those filmmakers who want their film premieres to both reflect their artistic voice AND help build their career by way of attracting the broadest possible audience, Kathleen McInnis will share practical translation tips to move you out of the creative and in to the marketing for your film’s journey. Useful for filmmakers who are determined to use the festival circuit to their own best advantage, Kathleen will cover building mythology to create branding, the value of Iconic imagery and selling to a theme, as well as how to speak “sales”. Particularly useful for emerging filmmakers, this can also be enlightening for established filmmakers as well.

In our drastically new world of film distribution, what are the practical uses and benefits of Sales Agents? How do they compete with (or against) direct-to-artist deals ? Do the Sales Agent’s goals diverge from Filmmaker goals? What really happens when the Filmmakers' artistic expression becomes a Sales Agent’s market commodity, and how does the Filmmaker take full advantage of it?
