Yu Guangyi

YU Guangyi (1961, China) studied at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou and worked as woodcut print artist. In 2004 he started making independent documentaries. His début Timber Gang (2007) was awarded ex aequo the Director's Award at the Asian Festival of 1st Films in 2007 with its other English title The Last Lumberjacks. His second film, Survival Song (2008), also won prizes in Tokyo and Seoul.
