Ximena Cuevas

Ximena CUEVAS (1963, Mexico) studied film at the New School for Social Research and Columbia University, New York. Between 1980 and 1990 she worked on more than 20 feature films and in 1991 Cuevas began her own practice. Her videos are playful combinations of performance, autobiography and everyday life melodramas. Her work is shown around the world and is also part of MoMA's permanent collection. Cuevas is the recipient of numerous and grants and awards, including Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts, Eastman Kodak, and Rockefeller-MacArthur-Lampiada Foundations.
