Vítor GONÇALVES (1951, Azores, Portugal) learned filmmaking from the renowned Portuguese filmmaker António Reis. His directing debut, A Girl In Summer, premiered at the 1985 Venice Film Festival. In 1988 he made Midnight. Since then he has been working as a producer and teacher. The Invisible Life (2013) is his first film in 25 years.

Gonçalves received universal praise for A Girl in Summer (IFFR 1987). 25 years later, he is back as a director with a mysterious, melancholy and discrete ‘chamber piece’ in which an official is confronted by the death of an older colleague and memories of a lost love.
