Vera Frenkel
Vera FRENKEL (1938, Czechoslovakia) was born in Bratislava and is currently a Toronto-based artist, acclaimed for her works in video, installation, new media and performance. She addresses themes of human migration, cultural memory, language, and bureaucracy. Frenkel began working in video in the late 1970s. By the 1990s, Frenkel was experimenting with video installation and Web art. Among a list of several awards and honours, 2013 marked the release of the first major survey of her work, a monograph of 312 pages, edited by Professor Sigrid Schale and published by Hatje Cantz Verlag.
