Tony Gatlif

Michel Dahamani (Tony) GATLIF (1948, Algeria) is an Algerian of Gypsy blood. This double background was a source of inspiration for most of his films. His film Les Princes (1983) was an uncompromising portrait of Gypsies in a soulless outer suburb. He won several prizes for his documentary Latcho drom (1993) which was shown in Rotterdam only last year in the Romani Cinema section.
