Tommie Dell Smith

Tommie Dell Smith is a documentary maker and producer. Her film Breaking Silence: The Story of the Sisters at DeSales Heights (1995), a co-direction with Susan Pointon, won a number of awards, under which a Gold Apple in Oakland, a CINE Golden Eagle in Washington and a National Media Owl Award. She was one of the founding members of the Independent Feature Project West, a national non-profit independent filmmakers' association and served on the Board of Directors for 4 years. In 2017 she completed her documentary The Groove Is Not Trivial about Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and the global movement for cultural revival.
