Tiago Melo

Tiago MELO (1984, Brazil) started his career in theater. In 2007, he took the course Dramatic Construction at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), Cuba. Since then, he has worked in film production on several short films and more than twenty feature films, under which much awarded Boi Neon (Neon Bull). As a director, Melo made his first short documentary Urânio Picuí in 2012. His debut feature Azougue Nazaré (2018), world premiere at IFFR, dives deep into rural Brazil. Melo demystifies the everyday life of those who form the Maracatu Rural, commenting on universal emotions and desires and the influence of technology and social media.
