Sono Sion at IFFR

SONO Sion (1960, Japan) is a poet and director. As a student, he shot several Super-8 films, two of which won prizes at festivals. His feature film debut A Man’s Flower Road (1986) won the Grand Prize at the Pia Film Festival. Horror influences regularly recur in his work. His wacky ode to 8mm film, Why Don't You Play in Hell? (2013), was awarded the Midnight Madness People's Choice Award in Toronto.
