Sohil VAIDYA is a director, writer, producer and photographer based in Pune, India. He graduated from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) Film School with an M.F.A. in Film Directing. For his thesis film Difficult People, he won the Student Award from the Directors Guild of America (D.G.A.) in 2018. Difficult People was also nominated for the American Society of Cinematographers Student Heritage Awards. His films have screened at international film festivals, including Palm Springs, Rhode Island International, Edmonton International, LA Asian Pacific, Dharamshala (DIFF), Kerala (IDSFFK), LA shorts and New York Indian Film Festival, and have been acquired by multiple online platforms. He is co-founder of the Smita Patil International Film Festival in Pune, India, which presents films by underrepresented voices in Indian cinema. Vaidya is a BAFTA Fellow in the Newcomers Program in Los Angeles.
