Sherif Arafa

Sherif Arafa (1960, Cairo) completed his training at the Film Institute in Cairo in 1983. He was already working as co-director and continued to do so until 1985. He also made several short films and a documentary. In 1986 he completed his feature-film debut, The Dwarfs are Coming, which won a number of 'best director' awards at film festivals. Sherif Arafa is regarded as one of the Egyptian directors who have has for the first time introduced a new trend in film, primarily based on the development of a sophisticated film language. He is also regarded as an innovator in Egyptian film music.
