Roger Corman

Roger CORMAN (1926, USA) is a producer, director and screenwriter. He holds the nickname 'King of the B-Movies'. He started working in film in 1953 as a producer and screenwriter, making his debut as a director in 1955. He directed dozens of low-budget films. In the 1970s Corman stopped directing to set up the production and distribution company New World Pictures. He only returned once as a director, for the film Frankenstein Unbound (1990). Over the years, Corman has supported directors and actors like Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorcese, James Cameron, Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper. In 2009 Corman recieved a Honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar.
