Richard Linklater (1960, Houston) started making Super8 films after studying drama and literature and was founder of the Film Society in Austin. His second feature, Slacker, was a great success with audience and critics and established his name as an independent film maker. Rotterdam also screened Waking Life and Tape.<br />

Rough visual material was 'painted over' and animated - after which few can still recognise Soderbergh, Ethan Hawke or Julie Delpy. In a substantive sense, the essential question is also: where does the dream stop and real life start?
