Prantik BASU (1986, India) studied Film Directing at the Film and Television Institute of India, after finishing a study in English Literature in Calcutta. He has been making short films and experimental documentaries since 2007. His films have been screened at various festivals including International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Rome Film Festival, International Film Festival of India and Experimenta India. The short Sakhisona won a Tiger Award for Short Films at IFFR 2017. For his mid-length Bela, Basu has been following Manbhum Sramjivi Chhau Dance Group, who perform the masked tribal martial dance Purulia Chhau. The film has its world premiere at IFFR 2021.
