Oskar Alegria

Basque filmmaker Oskar ALEGRIA (1973, Spain) originally trained as a journalist and worked in Madrid as a reporter on news programmes and as an editor of cultural programmes for several television channels. Since 2002, he has written travel reports for El País and is the author of an artistic urban photography project, Las ciudades visibles (The Visible Cities). Alegria also holds a position at the University of Navarra in Pamplona as professor of documentary scripts in the Audiovisual Screenplay masters’ programme. In the same city, Alegria was artistic director of Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival from 2013 to 2016. His first film, La casa Emak Bakia, was screened at numerous festivals, including Edinburgh, San Sebastian, DocLisboa and San Francisco and it won 17 awards. Zumiriki premiered in Venice, where it was also in the Orizzonti competition.
