Oshii Mamoru
OSHII Mamoru (1951, Japan) is a filmmaker, writer and director. He graduated in 1976 from an art academy in Tokyo. As a student, he was already making independent films. In 1980, he continued his studies at Studio Pierrot under Toriumi Nagayuki. As well as directing anime, Oshii has been involved with writing manga scripts and with cartoon strips and novels. He has been nominated for awards, including the Palme d’Or and the Leone d’Oro.
