Neary Adeline HAY (1981, Cambodia) found asylum in France with her family and grew up in the suburbs of Paris. Very passionate for film, Hay bought her first camcorder at age sixteen. She studied plastic arts and applied arts, made experimental films and traveled the world with her camera. Her debut film&nbsp;<strong>Angkar</strong> (2018), world premiere at IFFR, is a story about survival, the life in the village under the &nbsp;Khmer Rouge regime.&nbsp;

The filmmaker, daughter from a forced marriage in a Khmer Rouge detention village, returns with her father to meet his former  persecutors in the obscure intimacy of the village in which they lived together for four years. Between past and present, the forgotten spectres re-emerge and the story, face-to-face, is finally told.
