Nathalie ÁLVAREZ (1988, Sweden) is a Costa Rican/Swedish screenwriter and filmmaker. She grew up in Costa Rica, where she started her career in physical theatre before moving to Sweden to pursue a B.F.A degree in Mime Acting at the Stockholm University of the Arts. She earned an M.F.A degree in Film Directing/Screenwriting from Columbia University's Graduate Film Program in New York City. Her short films have been screened at film festivals worldwide, like Asunder (2015) at Telluride Film Festival 2016 and Filip (2015) at Palm Springs Shortfest 2016, winning Best Film Under 15 Minutes. She co-wrote Entre Tú y Milagros which earned the Orizzonti Award for Best Short in the Venice Film Festival 2020. Furthermore, she contributed to two LGBTQ+ anthology feature films, The Swedish Boys (2020) and Upon Her Lips: Heartbeats (2021), making her way into feature films. Clara Sola (2021) is her debut feature film and she is currently developing her second feature, The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands, in the Torino ScriptLab 2021.
