Moufida Tlatli

Moufida TLATLI (1947, Sidi Bou-Saïd, Tunesia) graduated in 1968 from the Paris film academy IDHEC. From 1968 to 1972, she worked as script-supervisor and later as producer for French television. From 1972 onwards, she was editor for e.g. Merzek Allouache, Farouk Beloufa, Michel Khleifi, Nacer Khemir and Férid Boughédir. Tlatli was widely praised for her feature début Les silences du palais (1994).The film won, amongst others, a Golden Camera in Cannes and the prize of the international film critic's in Toronto. Her second film, The Season of Men (2000) was also shown in Rotterdam. In 2011 Tlatli was appointed Minister of Culture, when president Ben Ali stepped down after the Tunesian revolution. She performed this task independently, without being a member of a political party.
