Known for his surreal brand of humour, MIKI Satoshi (1961, Japan) has written for hit TV variety shows in Japan and directed stage plays, TV dramas and films. His first film In the Pool was released in 2005. Adrift in Tokyo (2007) premiered at Far East Film Festival (FEFF) in 2007, and was screened widely abroad. His 2023 IFFR selection Convenience Story (2022) first premiered at Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. The film’s original concept was devised by Tokyo-based film critic Mark Schilling, who has long been a fan of Miki's work.
